I also enjoy helping small business owners navigate the various legal challenges that come with owning and running business.

Education

I’m a native Oregonian who graduated from Washington State University with the highest honors and then went on to attend the University of Oregon School of Law. I had an affinity for courses in estate planning; business and commercial law; taxation of individuals, businesses, gifts, estates and nonprofit organizations; nonprofit governance; and real estate transactions. In 2009, I earned my Doctor of Jurisprudence and graduated in the top tenth of my class.

Professional

I passed the Oregon bar in 2009 and began working for a general civil practice in West Linn. I gained invaluable experience in drafting wills, trusts and other estate planning documents, as well as documenting real estate transactions, setting up limited liability companies, representing creditors in collections actions and administrating probate estates.

Why I started The Law Office of Michael J. Turner

I started my own practice because I wanted to work directly with clients in all stages of life planning. I strive to be a trusted advisor to my clients and a true friend in helping them make the best possible decisions for themselves, their families, and their businesses.

Personal

I grew up in Central Oregon and love the mountains. I keep hiking boots and ballroom dance shoes in my car at all times, just in case the right opportunity comes up. I'm a voracious reader--my count for 2013 was 45 books. Living in Portland helps me keep up my coffee habit. In the fall I'm a rabid Oregon Duck (except when they're playing the Washington State Cougars). I'm also a danger to myself and others on the golf course.
